This is a totally scrap quilt using light and medium/dark fabrics. Unfortunately I can't remember what book or pattern that I used because it's been so long since I sewed the top. It too is a larger quilt (queen/double).

This quilt is from a book called Colorwash Trip Around the World. I made it by using varying shades of pinks to burgandy floral fabrics. It's probably about a Queen or lge Double quilt.

What do you know, another Stack-n-Whack Quilt. When I was teaching quilting, Stack-n-Whack quilts were pretty popular and I taught many classes. That's why I have so many different quilts made using the Stack-n-Whack method.

Another double/queen size quilt. This one is made from all batiks. It's from a pattern called Scrappy Sampler. There are many different type of blocks and block sizes in the quilt.

This quilt is from a pattern called EUREKA. It uses 11 different fabrics in 3 color ways, pink/fushia, green and cream/tan. A friend of mine is interested in a quilt for her brother's wedding in a queen/double size and what do you know, I have many of those in that size that just needs to be quilted. This same friend has purchased several of my quilts in the past and are displayed proudly in her home so I don't have a problem parting with one because I know the quilts will be cherished. She will send the quilt to a professional machine quilter to have it finished so the quilts usually end up looking so much better than if I tried to machine quilt them.

Quilt top 17

Again, made from all batiks (didn't I say that my favorite type of fabric is Batik). This is an easy pattern in a book published by the Buggy Barn called Spring Fever. The book is called Certifiably Crazy. The type of fabrics that are used in the Buggy Barn quilts isn't my favorite so I use the bright and bold fabrics and they still turn out great.

This is another sample quilt for a class I taught. I used a special ruler called a Tri-Recs ruler. I really can't remember what book this quilt came from since it's been over 5 years or so since I made it.

I have to a have a quilt or two that has my Scottish terrier on the fabric. We are huge Scottie fans and collect a lot of Scottie items including real live ones. We currently have two, a 2 1/2 year old wheaton male named Mosby and a 2 year old brindle girl named Belle. Throw in a terrier mix and 2 kids, it makes for a very active house. This quilt is from the companion quilting book to the Quiltmakers Gift called Quilts from the Quiltmakers Gift.

This is a wallhanging and yes, it's another Stack-n-Whack quilt. I believe I got this pattern from a quilt magazine several years ago. I used an Asian fabric to cut out all the flower parts and on the border

This is a trip around the world quilt. The design came from the book Traditions with a Twist.

Another StacknWhack type quilt but not from Bethany Reynolds. This one is from a pattern called 4-Patch Stacked Posie. Instead of using a flower fabric I used a very bright Laurel Burch fabric. All of the squares in the center were cut from the border fabric.

Quilt top 8

This is another nickel quilt from the first book Nickel Quilts called Sunny Lane . After I took the workshop, I wanted to teach the methods in a class, so this is my class sample. This is also the class that I sliced a portion of my finger off with the rotary cutter right in front of my students. I had to make a trip to the emergency room to help stop the bleeding. It's pretty bad when the teacher does something like that, but I'm pretty sure that they will all be a little more careful now each time they use the rotary cutter.

The quilt is from the book Strips and Curves. I have to be honest, I thought I liked the quilt until I took a photo of it. Now I'm not too sure. I think my main fabric's print is a little too small and that fabric over powers the whole quilt. The strip sections don't blend in well enough for me. This is the second quilt that I've made from this book and the first one turned out so much better.

This is my very bright Lady Bug quilt. Each of the ladybugs is machine appliqued onto the square. The quilt came from a book called More Colorful Quilts for Kids by Kari Pearson & Friends. The title of the quilt is Bright Bold Ladybug quilt.

Quilt top 5

This was a Debbie Caffrey's Mystery quilt (Diamond in the Ruff) class that I took. I like to do Mystery classes because they are usually all day (with lunch included) so that I got a little break from taking care of the kids. For mystery classes, you have no idea what the finished quilt is when you are choosing your fabrics. Your first clue is yardage amounts for the different fabrics and the fabrics are usually only described as light, light med, mediums or darks. During the day, you will receive a clue or instructions on how to sew a portion of the quilt together. The last clue you receive is the layout of the quilt. For this quilt, I chose all Asian or gold metalic material. Every piece of material has some gold mettalic printed on it.

This quilt was from a class that I took at a quilt store in Batavia, IL. The quilt is part paper pieced to get those nice points on the stars in the sashing. Paper piecing isn't one of my favorite quilting techniques, mainly because I hate to tear away all the paper when I'm finished.

Quilt Top 3

Another quilt made from only batiks. This one is from a pattern, but since I made it so long ago, I don't remember the name or if it's still available. This was my first quilt that I've only used batiks so my stash wasn't that big at the time and I had to buy many of the fabrics in the quilt.

QUILT TOP 2

This quilt was a class sampler quilt that I made when I was still teaching quilting classes at Stitches n Stuffing in Naperville, IL. The quilt is from a Quilt in a Day book called Birds in the Air. It's made from Civil War reproduction type fabric, a complete departure from my normal "bright and wild" quilts but I had to make it calmer to try to gain potential students for the class.

Quilt Top a Day-Day1

My sewing room is overflowing with unfinished quilts. Basically, I count a quilt finished when I get the top sewn together because that's the fun part for me. In reality, it can't be used for anything because it's not quilted (layered with batting and backing and sewed together either by hand or machine) and they are now just collecting dust on my sewing room shelves. I thought I would share with you a quilt top a day for as long as I have a quilt top available. It's going to be scary to see how many days I can post a quilt!
